Why we can’t advertise Botox

Today in the states it’s national Botox day. You might not know this but in the UK it’s illegal to advertise a prescription drug. That’s why many aesthetic clinics refer to Botox as anti-wrinkle injections. The UK is the only country in the world that allows Botox to be administered by non-medics.

But did you know that you must have a face to face consultation with the prescriber of the Botox? Save Face and the BBC have been working together to expose prescribers who supply Botox to non medics and don’t follow the guidance that they must be involved in the consultation with the patient. It’s important to receive a full consultation with the person prescribing your Botox after all they are fully responsible if things go wrong.
